But one lesser known arena where latinos are on the ascent is Silicon Valley, the technological heart of most innovations in computers and telecommunication. Here’s a rundown of the people who are spearheading the ‘brown revolution’ in northern California.
Despite the fact that his name is about as latino as “John Smith,” Krieger, 28, was born and raised in Brazil. As a Stanford-educated software engineer, he co-founded Instagram in 2010 with fellow Stanford classmate, Kevin Systrom, and when the company was sold to Facebook in 2012, Krieger became worth about $100 million, making him the King of the Mountain when it comes to successful latinos in Silicon Valley.
