Hispanic or Latino, What is the Difference?

Other Labels

Despite these definitions, some people don’t identify themselves as Hispanic or Latino and would rather be referred to by their current country of origin. U.S. born citizens for example, are often so far removed from the Latin culture that they prefer to be called Americans. Others have a loyalty to both cultures and identify themselves as Mexican-Americans. Just because a person seems to fit into a particular group doesn’t mean it’s the right label.
