Supreme Court Justice Judge Sonia Sotomayor is American born of Puerto Rican descent. In 1992, she became a U.S. District Court Justice. Her journey progressed in 1998 when she was elected to the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals. She then made U.S. history in 2009 by becoming the first Latina female Supreme Court Justice, making her only the third woman to hold the position of U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
