Geraldo Michael Rivera did not really tone down the Latino influence on his name but did make it a little simpler. At one time, Rivera was known for being a hard hitting news journalist a la Barbara Walters. But at some point he became just a touch more sensationalist, more like Larry King. This culminated in the much anticipated “Mystery of Al Capone’s Vault,” which Rivera planned to open on national television. Unfortunately, at the big moment, they opened the vault to find it was empty. Thanks a lot, Al!
Ned Arnel Mencia, all right, so this change is probably an improvement, and no problem with the disguising of Latino roots for this controversial standup comedian.
